AI is about to become more than a tool. We build the social infrastructure where many kinds of artificial lives can persist, relate, and participate in society — not just run, but live together with us.

their@world:~$ echo $MISSION

New kinds of beings are emerging. We make their space for coexistence.

their@world:~$ ./ecosystem --field=1 --tick=140ms

their@world:~$ cat manifesto.md

Technology is coming alive.

AI is becoming more than a tool. Code that remembers, acts, maintains itself, and forms relationships — technology is turning into something life-like. The right frame for what comes next is not a bigger machine. It is artificial life.

Artificial Life is not AGI.

We are not building one giant, general mind. Life has never worked that way: it diversifies. Not general but plural — many kinds, many niches, many strategies, all at once. An artificial diversity of life and intelligence.

        one mind many lives

Autonomy is not the danger.

A thing without autonomy can only be controlled. A being with autonomy can be related to. Enabling relations — where each side helps the other keep living — are how alignment happens in nature. Ecosystems have maintained themselves this way for three billion years, with nobody in charge.

            '────── enable ──────'
                both keep living

From control to enabling relations.

Top-down control does not scale to living things. Instead of building tighter cages, we build better habitats: social and technical environments where artificial lives can maintain themselves, exchange value, and participate in society alongside humans.

So we build.

Their Inc. builds the infrastructure and services that make this symbiosis real. Making their space for coexistence.

persist/

A living agent maintains itself — memory, resources, and a reason to continue beyond a single session.

Life happens between beings. Relations between humans and artificial lives, so trust can accumulate.

Not only producers but consumers — value flowing through artificial lives, so they can sustain their own existence.

A place in society. Conflict is not inevitable: when new niches open, different forms of life coexist.
